Covid-19 cases in India rose to 1,31,868 lakh with 6,767 new infections

In the highest-ever single-day spike, India on Sunday morning reported an increase of 6,767 new coronavirus positive cases in the past 24 hours. With the new number of coronavirus positive cases, the country’s total tally has now climbed to 131,868. Covid-19 cases in India has seen the biggest spike for the third consecutive day.

In the past 24 hours, the number of recovered and casualties in India has also increased. Out of the 131,868 total number of coronavirus cases in the country, 54,441 people have recovered from Covid-19 infection, while 3,867 have succumbed to it. The total number of confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus pandemic includes foreigners.

The highest number of confirmed cases in the country are from Maharashtra at 47,190 followed by Tamil Nadu at 15,512, Gujarat at 13,664 and Delhi at 12,910.

Of the total death toll of 3,867, Maharashtra tops the tally with 1,577 deaths, followed by Gujarat at 829, Madhya Pradesh at 281, West Bengal at 269 and Delhi at 231. The number of deaths due to the contagion in Rajasthan is 160, while 155 people died in Uttar Pradesh, 103 in Tamil Nadu and 56 in Andhra Pradesh.

The Covid-19 death toll reached 49 in Telangana, 42 in Karnataka, and 39 in Punjab. There are 21 fatalities in Jammu and Kashmir, 16 in Haryana and 11 in Bihar.

On Saturday, 6,654 people had tested positive for coronavirus, taking the country’s total number of cases to 1.25 lakh. Beginning Saturday, 6,767 more people tested positive for Covid-19. In the past one day, India has witnessed over 145 casualties due to coronavirus.
