San Antonio Police fatally shoot Indo-American during arrest attempt

Sahoo’s ex-wife, Leah Goldstein, revealed that he had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and had struggled with the condition for the past decade. Despite his challenges, Goldstein described Sahoo as a caring father and provider for their family.

An Indo-American man was shot dead by police in San Antonio during an attempt to arrest him. Sachin Kumar Sahoo, 42, was pronounced dead at the scene after striking two officers with his vehicle. Chief Bill McManus of San Antonio police stated, “An arrest warrant had been issued for Sahoo, and officers attempted to apprehend him when the altercation occurred.”

Sahoo, originally from Uttar Pradesh, India, was suspected of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. Police responded to a report just before 6:30 pm and found a 51-year-old woman critically injured after being struck by a vehicle allegedly driven by Sahoo. The victim was hospitalized.

Later, when officers attempted to approach Sahoo at his residence, he struck two officers with his BMW, resulting in one officer firing his weapon, causing Sahoo’s death. One officer was hospitalized, and the other received treatment at the scene. Chief McManus stated, “An arrest warrant had been issued for Sahoo, and officers attempted to apprehend him when the altercation occurred.”

The police investigation is ongoing, including a review of bodycam footage. Sahoo’s ex-wife, Leah Goldstein, disclosed that he had been diagnosed with bipolar disorder and struggled with the condition for the past decade. Despite this, Goldstein described Sahoo as a caring father and provider for their family.
